Moda Health partners with the Portland Trail Blazers to revitalize the Rose Quarter
PORTLAND, OR (Aug. 13, 2013) – Portland is widely recognized for the urban planning that has produced so many livable, vibrant neighborhoods. It is now time for its riverfront Rose Quarter to become the city’s heart.
We are delighted to announce that Moda Health is partnering with the Trail Blazers in a 10-year agreement that will energize Portland’s landmark hub for sports and entertainment to create an urban showcase for active, healthy living.
Since our company was founded in 1955, we’ve spent few of our resources on advertising, preferring to invest in projects that create healthy people and healthy places. This commitment continues today as we invite people to join us in creating, in the core of our city, a new kind of urban neighborhood. With October’s advent of Cover Oregon and the coming of the Health Care Exchange, tens of thousands of our neighbors will for the first time be welcomed into the world of healthcare benefits. Instead of advertising, we are doing what we always have done, using our resources to invest in the community we serve.
As part of this partnership, the name of the Rose Garden is changing to the Moda Center. In partnership with the Trail Blazers organization, physical transformation of the renamed arena will begin soon with new signage, and then other elements will be added gradually.
This is much more than just a naming rights deal. That alone would have held no interest for us. Rather it is a full community partnership, one that promises to re-energize the entire Rose Quarter and extend throughout the community via education, philanthropy and economic revitalization . . . now that’s the Moda way.
