August is National Immunization Awareness Month
Protect yourself and those you love. Vaccinations are for people of all ages.
Getting vaccinated is one of the best ways you can prevent getting and spreading diseases. A vaccine helps you become immune (protected from) a disease.
Prevention truly is the best medicine. When you get vaccinated, you are not only protecting yourself from serious diseases, but others in your community as well.
Thanks to vaccinations, we can now stop many diseases that used to be common. These include polio, measles, diphtheria, whooping cough, rubella, mumps, tetanus, rotavirus, Haemophilus influenza type b (Hib) and smallpox.
Help prevent disease and save lives. Get vaccinated.
Contact your healthcare provider to see if you are due for any vaccinations. You can also view immunization schedules by age on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website. And, visit Boost Oregon's website to find answers to some common questions about vaccinations.
