It's the most common cancer in America and one of the most preventable. Together with OHSU Health, we're raising awareness about skin cancer.
Melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer and cases of it have increased over the past 30 years. For both men and women, Oregon ranks in the top 10 of melanoma incident rates in the U.S. But the good news is that when melanoma is detected early, chances of surviving are very good.
To combat this deadly cancer, OHSU Health has declared a War on Melanoma. See how you can join the fight!
The majority of nonmelanoma and melanoma cases are associated with exposure to ultraviolet radiation from the sun. Fortunately, skin cancer is a cancer you can see. Make it part of your daily routine to check your skin. If you see a spot, stop and check it out. If it looks unusual or starts to change over time, get it looked at by a healthcare provider.

We have exciting news to share. ODS is changing its name to Moda Health.
Moda comes from the latin term "modus" and means "a way". We picked it because that's what we are here to do: help our communities find a way to better health.
Together, we can be more, be better.
