February is Dental and Heart Health Month

Your dental health affects your overall health. Surprised? Having good dental health is important.

The condition of your teeth and mouth affect your whole body and vice versa. Tooth decay left for too long can contribute to lung disease, stroke and bacterial pneumonia. Even the way you sit can make a difference. Poor posture puts strain on your jaw.

There are some simple things you can do to have good dental health:

  • Change your toothbrush with the seasons (every three to four months).
  • Brush at least twice a day for 2 to 3 minutes
  • Floss
  • Go to the dentist every six months
  • Limit sweets and sugary drinks

Teach these steps to your family. If you have an infant, take them to their first dental appointment before they turn 1.

We’ve teamed up with CJ McCollum and his mom, Kathy, to share ways you can practice good dental health.

Hello.

We have exciting news to share. ODS is changing its name to Moda Health.

Moda comes from the latin term "modus" and means "a way". We picked it because that's what we are here to do: help our communities find a way to better health.

Together, we can be more, be better.
